My website designer's keen eye picked up on some subtle changes on Rate My Space's inner pages a few days ago.
Two new sets of contextual links on the right sidebar could easily lure you away to other sections of HGTV's website, sections whose topics are similar to what you're looking at on in RMS. To do this, they shrunk the "sign in now" box and moved it from the top right sidebar to the top left sidebar. Why????
It's interesting in light of the "America's Favorite Rooms" article in HGTV Ideas Magazine where writer Heather Graulich characterizes RMS as being "wildly popular" and quotes an HGTV honcho saying it's the No. 1 section of the HGTV site.
So if they're now promoting the rest of their web content via more visible links on RMS pages, is it possible that the amateurs online are attracting more web viewers than the paid professional designers (other than Candice, of course)?
If so, congratulations RMS-ers and keep up the great work! And HGTV, how about going a little more upscale with the TV programming like you're doing with Angelo on RMS TV? I'd rather spend an hour surfing RMS than watching 2 el cheapo makeovers.
OK, off my soapbox now. What do you think?
