Tour my small but efficient kitchen

Welcome to my kitchen! It was recently featured as an inspiration room on HGTV's new Rate My Space TV show. Specifically, the old pine hutch we use in place of cabinets.

I've posted a detailed how-to on how I refinished the hutch here. If you're in the Christmas spirit already, here's how I decorate the kitchen.

If you enjoyed the video tour, please sign in to Rate My Space and rate my kitchen. Don't worry, you won't get any spam or unwanted emails from HGTV!

I just watched the Rate My Space show tonite and you looked so fantastic on TV! Way to go Mary Kay! You took that family hutch and your beautiful kitchen all the way to Hollywood. What a neat story!

Penny

So glad you included the You Tube video as I completely forgot to watch HGTV tonight.

I enjoyed the tour tremendously. Your kitchen is absolutely lovely. I now have puck lights on my shopping list at Home Depot. :)

MARYKAY ~ Was thrilled last night to see not only a home I truly adore in every way, but to see YOU, too! What a doll you are, and what a cute-cute smile! Altho I've viewed your spaces many times, planning to view them again ~ I could use a refresher course, and THIS is the place to be! Congrats, and so glad you share your talents! Warmly, Linda

Well is anyone surprised that your home was chosen as an "inspiration" I know it's inpired me. I'm glad the rest of HGTV's viewing audience got a chance to peek into your lovely home. I taped the show and will watch it later this week...I can't wait to see it!

Thanks, all, for your nice comments!

It's cool that the inspiration rooms are really chosen by the Rate My Space homeowners, not by HGTV. And that's what makes the whole concept pretty special. You can see those folks have done research because many of the spaces they've chosen were pretty obscure in terms of being viewed by a lot of people.

WOW! Your home is jaw dropping gorgeous. It's no surprise it was an inspiration for an RMS episode. That was a great makeover too. I hope you don't mind me asking but your paint colors and your floors. It's all so soothing and a great backdrop. I can't tell but it doesn't look like the wall the cabinets are on has a faux finish. What color and brand did you use and then the celing color and trim color too. I'm trying so hard to come up with a plan and your home may be the inspiration. This wall right here is perfect! And the hallway behind it is that a different color or just lighting? And last what did you use for the flooring? Please drop by my space anytime and feel free to give any advice you can. You are welcome to give as many ideas as you have. LOL. Your advice is gold!

Hi Lorie! Thanks for your kind comment! I hope you check back here because I don't know of another way of contacting you.

The kitchen paint is Sherwin Williams Kilim Beige flat and the trim is SW Alabaster gloss. I think the ceiling is SW Antique White, flat. There is matching tile on the floor and backsplashes that is discontinued. The hallway is also the same colors, but the lighting may make it look different.

Hope this helps! You can't go wrong with this combo because those are 3 of SW's most popular colors!

Best, MK
