13 days & counting...

I'm so excited and busy getting ready for our big cruise. On our first night we celebrate our 24th anniversary. Along for the ride will be our good friends, Jim's best man (and BFF) and his wife.

I was thrilled to find a travel & photography buff's blog that featured photos of our ship, including the atrium above. Blogger Dom was so kind to let me use his photo here. (Thanks, Dom!)

Here's our itinerary below. If anyone has any tips, please leave comments! This is our first trip to this region. We had company last week, so I'm heading out today to do some shopping. Comfortable travel clothes & shoes are tops on my list!

Wow, what a trip! How awesome and exciting! Have you ever cruised before? We went to Alaska a couple years ago and it was wonderful. Look at all those ports...you will have a fanfastic time. Happy Anniversary! Blessings to you! Desiree

You are going to have a blast! I've been to almost every stop on your itinerary...the exceptions are Valletta, Pisa, Naples, and Split.

I'm sure you've got all the touristy things covered...La Sagrada Familia, Parque Guelle, Museo Picasso in Barcelona. The Olympic stadium was cool, but I was there in 1996, so it's been a while. Barcelona is a great city...I think you'll really enjoy it.

Nice reminded me of Miami in a strange old world, European sort of way. Don't bother day tripping to Cannes cause when the film festival isn't there, it's kinda crappy. Monte Carlo is teensie eensy but oh so gorge!!!! Ferraris, Bentleys, Lamborghinis are as common as Chevys and Fords here in Detroit. Some big bucks in that town. The casino wasn't very fun, though...kinda quiet actually.

Be careful in Rome and Florence. Rome was actually the only city I never felt safe in. It's very dirty, lots of strange people begging for money and such. Just hit every stop in the tourist book...the Vatican is unbelievable...arrange for an early tour cause the line can extend for a couple of kilometers. Even when you schedule a tour, you still have to wait in line.

I felt a little less uneasy in Florence, but still keep on guard. I didn't get to go inside the cathedral in Florence...they were actually having some sort of service where the general public couldn't come in. But the beauty is on the outside anyways. Can't forget to stop and see Michaelangelo's David.

My absolute favorite place in Italy was Venice...it's just the coolest place. I absolutely loved St. Mark's Square...I could just stand there forever and take it all in. Do a grand canal boat tour...the gondola rides are really expensive, but it's fun to do once.

Have an open mind about food in Italy...it's definitely not the American Italian food Americans are used to. And it's so freaking expensive!

Sorry for this book...I think I can take credit for the longest comment ever.

Well, Happy Anniversary to you! Have a glorious time. I have never been, but most of my family are addicted to cruises. My aunt is even trying to organize what she has dubbed "cousin cruise" for my her, her 4 brothers, all 15 of us "cousins" with our spouses and children...basically it comes to almost 50 of us.

Happy Anniversary! Enjoy the cruise and all the destinations. The best thing about a cruise is going to all different ports and only having to unpack once. I just know you will have a wonderful time. Have a safe journey.

I've been to those places but not via ship; I am so envious! You are sure to have a great time.
(I loved Florence...the shopping is fabulous. Not a huge fan of Barcelona...too touristy for my liking.)
